My apologies to Henry Kelsey, I called him Henry Hudson, indicates how much I know about roses, nada. I got Simon Fraser correct only because I went to a university of the same name! I forgot about poor Clem.

Okay Shauna, just because he is wearing a cowboy type hat, does not mean he is singing country, he is actually singing heavy metal, Guns N' Roses, I think, the tune sounds like "November Rain," he is thinking ahead.

I don't think a rose that would wrangle tomatoes would like to sing G'n'R. Just my opinion. Marcia will know for sure what he was singing. Unless she remembered her medication which clearly none of the rest of us did hahahaha whoop! weee!

If someone was talented (not me, obviously), they could set that to music. I don't know "November Rain" - have to look it up. Guns & Roses - LOLOL I would never have thought of it! He could be singing "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden" to Miss Sunrise. I think she must be pining for him, 12 feet away in his corner. She isn't looking too chipper this summer. Typical man, eh? Love 'em and leave 'em - he's over there blooming away, and poor Miss Sunrise has yellowing leaves and sad-looking blooms.

LOL What is wrong with us lately? We're all going nuts!!

Marcia, this is a great marketing idea. I think you might be on to something.

Take roses or other small shrubs, put them in attractive pots and then dress them up in hats, bonnets, and accessories and give them cute names. Harry Hydrangea, Marvin Magnolia, heck even Rose Rose just to make people smile.

ItÂs no worse than chia pets. Chia pets get enjoyed for a week or two, then end up in the trash. At least someone can take Harry Hydrangea and plant him in the garden for many years of enjoyment. If he blooms well thatÂs just a bonus compared to his colorful clothing. Heck, even flower carpet roses seem to sell because they put them in pretty pink pots.

Flower carpet roses - there's a thought. Anyone would want a flower carpet rose in their living room, wouldn't they? Kinda prickly but pretty as all get out!

Glen I think someone beat you to it... I have seen little cacti for sale with a tiny cowboy hat, miniature bandana and tiny plastic guitar glued to them. So funny. But you got the market cornered for dressed up roses. Go! Go get em Glen! Maybe you could also sell aftermarket replacement outfits - a rose with a name like my Sonia isn't going to wear the same thing day in and day out.

Well, get out the sewing machines, everyone. We know what we'll be doing all winter! LOL

I hope I didn't sound too "tongue in cheek". I just think it's really cute. Personally I like the way Henry has his "arms" stretched outward, almost like he needs a toy guy and holster.

I do recall seeing cacti with eyes glued on them, but didn't realize they now have little cowboy hats, guitars, etc. Then again, I think it's strange when they glue tiny paper mache flowers on them.

Interesting though. I saw peonies at walmart with an artificial flower stuck into the soil in the pot. It explained on the tag that peonies don't bloom the first year and the artificial flower attached was indicative of flower color.

It's known that having a plant in bloom helps sell it. I guess instead of having a picture of the peony bloom, they chose to recreate a peony bloom and make it look like the plant was blooming.

Glen, i had a hard enough time finding the hats, let alone a holster and gun, but i DID think about it. Truly "Guns & Roses" then, eh? LOL

If we dressed up tall scraggly plants would we have to worry about naked legs? I know a lot of delphiniums that are getting a bit too immodest for my tastes. I just hope that in the meantime the neighbors don't get too much of an eye-full and start wondering about what goes on next door.

You would think that all that fresh air would help us gardeners.

Well, Gun's & Roses does have a song called "Welcome to the Jungle" ;)

I have to tell you this story, when Gun's & Roses first came out in the late 80's, I remember my inebriated biker friend said to all of us, "hey, did you guys hear that new band called "Bug's & Roses"?, I'll never forget that! LOL
