Now I'm completely puzzled. A few more have opened, and they are the same old, dark red color. So some have changed and others haven't. Has anyone heard of this happening before with Glads?

I bought some mini glads 3 years ago, and they grew smaller in height and produced a dark red-pink colour (package showed dark red). They made many baby corms, all corms overwintered, but since I had no garden space to put them in I gave the mature corms for my mother to grow (and they did and flowered the colour) and I grew the baby corms in pots, not for blooms but to get them larger with the idea that in a couple years I'll have a garden plot to grow the mature corms in.

Well, this year I have a garden, and as I'm planting out my larger corms, I notice most are a dark colour (reddish hue) but 2 are white??? Fast forward to the end of summer (now) and all the smaller corms are blooming the dark red/pink colour, the 2 white ones grew really tall (36") and are (a beautiful) yellow! Whoa! Also, the red/pink ones stayed small (18").

I will do a search on this forum, but I know I've read that over time coloured tulips will eventually revert back to their native colour (white?), so I think why wouldn't glads to this too?

Interested to hear more, though the blooms on the yellow glads are larger and stand up to the heat far better than the original red/pink blooms. Hmm.

Not that this helps explain anything, but maybe something?

Very interesting. It's fun and frusterating to see what flowers will do. You can do everything in your power to take care of them perfectly, and they still have a mind of their own:)

Anyway, I've marked my pinkish ones and will not plant them next year. And then I guess I'll see what happens with the rest.
