You're in CRAGS, Lori? (Not that I couldn't have guessed by the plants you have in your garden!!) Do you go to any meetings? I go to the odd one, but I always make time for the spring and fall sales!

Wendy, you already know I'm in CHS. I also belong to the Foothills Orchid Society. However, if I don't start taking better care of my plants, I'm going to be turfed from the club. ;o)

I also used to be a member of one of the local African Violet societies, but I cut down drastically on the AV's (I used to have 400--I'm down to half a dozen) once I started having some success with orchids. One can only juggle so many passions at the same time, no?

WOOHOO! CHS rules. Well, I guess the board doesn't tonight. Seems like something is wrong with it. Maybe fixing server or something. I am going to both the fall plant shares on the Sat. with CHS and Sun. with CRAGS (I think that one is free to the public in Lakeview, never been there).WOW, You are both members of alot of clubs. I would love to have a rock garden one day but I have to learn more about the whole thing. I wonder how many more CHS'ers chat over here. Take care!

Doris, I had good intentions on at least 2 occasions of attending CRAGS meetings since I joined (which was fairly recently) but something came up, i.e. having to work late a lot this spring, yuck! (Sheesh, the things I have to do to support my plant habit!) I did attend a workshop this spring on conifers in the rock garden, which was very interesting. Unfortunately, I haven't made it out on the garden tours either, as they have all seemed to be on weekdays (although I realize some of the same yards are on CHS garden tours).
I see the fall plant sale is Sept. 11 - I'll have to mark that on the calendar. (Although I guess I should keep in mind that I'll have no where to put them until we finally build some more troughs!) I'm not really much of a club person per se - I joined NARGS (again) for the seed exchange and the quarterly (both of which superb, if you are not already familiar with them), and CRAGS because I figured I should also support the local branch (with the plant sales and workshops at the back of my mind, too)! Anyway, as you know, for local gardeners, CHS and CRAGS provide excellent opportunities, especially for those who are inclined to take in the many events.
Whew, 400 African violets!?! It boggles the mind, LOL!

Does anyone know what is going on with the CHS lately? Board seems suspended on Wednesday night. I haven't received an email since then. You? Let me know.

I'm a first year member. I was given a membership as a birthday gift last fall and I will definitely be renewing. I attended my first plant exchange in the spring and have toured some great gardens. Additional benefits have been the member discounts at various locations and meeting some friendly, helpful and generous gardeners.
