Brown Turkey Fig Question

I live in Missouri(zone 5) and purchased a brown turkey fig tree two years ago and am haveing some problems with it. The last two years the figs havent been growing very large and have been falling off before they become ripe. Last year I thoght that it was because the tree wasnt very big but it is hapening this year too and it is about 6 feet tall. It is also planted on the south west side of my house so it gets alot of sun. Does this have a factor? Any ideas?

You could possibly be having the problem of youthfullness (I should have such a problem!). The first two fig trees I purchased didn't give me an edible fig until their fourth year with me. Also, if you got caught in that heat wave with triple digit temperatures, this could be the cause of fruit drop. Full sun should not be a problem. Figs do like an alkaline soil, and I personally believe an extra shot of phosphates often helps production.....Elder (Lou)

Sometimes intense heat/sun can effect the fruit drop. Read the Ray Given's Fig FAQ under "Q. How does dry, hot weather effect figs?", and the rest of the FAQ for reference
