Marcia, I guess it thought it was time to bloom!

I had one do that last summer about this time also. All the amaryllises were in the greenhouse for the summer and one bloomed in there. I make tags for each amaryllis and mark on them when the plant bloomed. Some bloom every year, some wait a year and a half or two years.

Now look what you did.....you were supposed to be doing the rain dance...obviously you twirled in the wrong direction....It worked out okay for you 'this time' though.....hee hee

seriously...good going....I forgot all about mine and noticed one the other day had sent up a new leaf.....I set it outside and the leaf keeled over. Don't know whether to keep the other bulbs and see what happens if they will start to grow again....or toss them and start with some new ones in the fall.

I've heard of Christmas in July (OK...I know it's August), but I didn't think that included a blooming Amaryllis!! Don't tell me you have a poinsettia that's colouring up, too??

I'm jealous...

Yeah, i was thinking about the Christmas in July thing! The poinsettia beside it never lost all its colour. I had good intentions of putting all the amaryllis and that poinsettia outside for the summer but never got around to it.

Brenda, i don't know what colour it will be. I should label them... :) My last initial really stands for "Procrastination"!

Sierra, the rain dance hasn't worked, so i thought what the heck and turned it into an amaryllis dance! Wonder if it will work for the rest of them? :)

Yay! Good for you Marcia, can't wait to see it when it blooms. Would've looked cute with my Christmas Cactus that bloomed in April this year. No, it's not an Easter cactus, I just confused it with gro-lights :0)
