Hi Marg, Although I have well over 200 peonies, I have never grown one from seed. I've read that they are very easy to pollinate and start from seed but it requires LOTS of patience. Like 3-4 years to bloom!

I am trying them as a WS,but have heard that they need to be over two winters and then it will take several years before they bloom.
Worth a try.

I was reading different posts on the peony forum and one said that he planted them directly in the garden, because they need the long cold period. I thought I might try what I do with some tree seeds that have very hard shells, pour some boiling water over them, let them sit for a minute (no longer or you can cook the embryo), and then plant inside. When he planted outside he still had to wait 4-5 years for blooms, I'm to impatient for that. Since I have 8 seeds, I will try some each way. On another subject, can someone please remind me where I put those iris seeds? Marg
