North53, Yes they went into the ground. I decided it best to go that route for less chance of loss. I know I am not going to be happy about the placements in two years but that would happen no matter what I do LOL.

Don't expect too much the first year, but after that I think you'll be pleased with how well they do. Especially since you picked such good ones! All I did when I planted mine was to pay attention to the mature size on the tag. But even so, due to the neighbor rebuilding his driveway wall, I had to relocate some of them. They didn't mind being moved and have all done great.

Thanks north53....for the very first time, EVER I actually planned this bed, taped out measurements etc. IF they grow to the size stated they will be just touching. HOLY COW did I pick a BIG bunch of hosta's.......my bed is 44' by 8' wide and with mature size I barely fit them all in..........

Now I am working on a new hosta bed...and have the miniature collection coming in the spring to fill in the gaps....LOL

I hate waiting for plants to mature.....

32 hours till we can place orders with Palatine!!!! Yes, I will probably sit up till their online store opens....

catt_2006 you probably have the space but keep it in the form of an obligatory lawn hehe out with the grass, in with hosta's!

I just came home this evening.... and apparently I missed all the good weather this weekend in Calgary, and am now anxiously anticipating our first S*** fall over the next 3 days!!!!!!!!! So I don't think that I will be ordering stuff and planting them now.... sigh! Maybe next spring. Thank you anyway, for showing me how they wrap them up and send them from .... actually, SCG, where did you order them from please?

I got mine from Pat at hostageek.ca He was able to tolerate my phone calls and still deliver quality goods. I was impressed on the size vs cost and will never again shop the HVX rampant markets again.
