Texas Birthday Fig pic

*gasp* - more beguiling than iconic chocolate drippings, stronger rooted than an armadillo braced in its burrow, able to make all fig fanciers scratch their heads in furrowed-brow amazement - what IS this strange-looking ficus? Why, it's the Texas Birthday Fig, found only in mountainman0826's orchard. No telling how old it is, of course :o)

Happy Birthday, Joe! we appreciate you!

Apparently this was your last birthday, or the tree's last birthday.

Today's just Joe's xxth birthday, and I'm having fun with one of his posted pics and Photo Editor, see how long it takes him down in Austin to realize he's got an official GW Figgie Forum celebration being thrown in his honor. Depending on his sense of humor, I may find I'm a reciprocal target come October!

Yeah, but the pix didn't show up. Hence the surmisal.

Aaack, seriously you can't see it? I opened up GW's Fig Forum in at least three separate browsers, and it's right there embedded (it's a Yahoo Photos upload, public access to the folder, and I had right-clicked on Properties to get a URL for it when I entered it into the thread) - that's kind of a bummer if you can't see it. This is the URL below as a direct link, but it's probably a bit harder to see. If anyone else can't see it, please say so in this thread!

Here is a link that might be useful: try this for the Texas Birthday fig

Talk about perplexing! I went ahead and shut down my computer, re-booted, opened a browser (an older IE v6), did *not* sign in to any Yahoo accounts including the one that the photo folder is under, just clicked my Favorites, first tested by pulling a group I'm a member in to see if it showed me as not signed in yet (it indicated that I couldn't access the group, so I knew I wasn't recognized as having "told" the browser that I was in it via the Yahoo Photos username I uploaded under), then pulled the Fig Forum and looked at this thread. The picture is right there for me, both embedded and when I click on the link. Definitely beats me why it won't show up for others. Does anyone who uses Yahoo Photos as their repository for having a site to upload their pics to, have any thoughts? or is this only a funky browser problem for a few people? I'm completely baffled what would be a deterrent on viewing it, and don't yet know other ways of accessing the folder (this was the first time I'd created an album and uploaded anything to their Photos section, so I'm a rank newbie on using any kind of uploadable site, just made sense to use it since I already use Yahoo for email). We need the technogeeks to offer ideas!

*sigh* - more mysteries of cyberspace.

No pix imbedded or on the link. I am using latest IE version.

Harumph on Yahoo. Let me try this from Photobucket instead:

Can it be seen now? it works when I preview it!

I appreciate the birthday wishes, Sherry! It is hotter than blazes down here in Texas and I'm working to keep all the figs watered. In a couple of years, the 48 in-ground fig trees should be a little more forgiving after their root systems spread further. Also, next year I resolve to have an automatic drip system in place! Regards to all.
