Hi Marg, I had to google M&S watermelon, pretty neat looking fruit. I am not the one to ask however, last year I tried some short-season mini watermelon and bought a plant already growing in a two gallon pot. Despite this, the plant barely produced any fruit at all - maybe one or two very small melons. I think part of my issue is that I grow these things in a flower bed and they are crowded around other plants, instead of a devoted vegetable garden.

Hi Glen. I harvested one melon and that one was 25 lb! I did email the company and asked if that was usual for this variety and they said it was a bad year for melons, usually from M&S you get 5/6 melons. They said the problem was caused by either drought or poor pollination. I'll probably try again next year and hope for the best.

Marg, just wondering if you had attempted to hand pollinate any of the female blooms? There seems to be a lack of bees where I live and so I always pollinate all zucchini and pumpkins etc ... I seldom have attempted melons.
