johnnykulik, Figs are complicated. Seeds are not produced inside the fig fruit unless there are fig wasps present (they only live in warm areas), and the wasps bring pollen from a male fig plant (caprifig). Common figs do not need pollination and form seedlike structures, cenocarps, which can be crunchy like seeds - but are not seeds and will not germinate.
But note that even if you do plant viable fig seeds, half of the plants will be caprifigs (inedible) and the rest will be of unknown quality, and usually need pollination to form edible fruit. That's why most folk start their trees from cuttings of common figs.
See the link below for a good, thorough, explanation.

As an interesting aside, I live in an area of commercial fig production; there are some large plantings about 5 miles from my house. I believe the common commercial variety here is Calimyrna, which requires caprifigs for pollination. I currently have a volunteer fig seedling coming up in a container; presumably the seed was transported here by a bird (which is common for a bunch of other volunteer seedlings I have growing around the place; mulberry, boxelder, others I can't identify yet).
