Need Input

I recently received my first fig tree. Its about 4 feet tall and I was told it is a "white" - something. But I really like the appearance of the tree and the prospect of getting delicious figs from it.

I took 3 cuttings (about 6 inches long, 3-5 nodes) from it and planted them in a 70% perlite, 30% potting soil mix. Moist, not damp, and covered with 2litre plastic pop bottles with the bottoms cut out, to keep humidity in. I have them in the pool shed, where temps are a little higher, and there is no sunlight.

But then I was looking around here to figure out what I should do with it over the winter, and I learned that this method isn't ideal, and my chances of success would have been much better if I had waited until they were dormant in a few months. Live and learn :)

But here are my questions:

1. Do my fig cuttings have much chance of success?

2. How long will they take to root? (approximate or anecdotal is obviously fine)

3. Is there anything I can do to boost my chances of success?

Were the cuttings green wood or semi/hardwood?

1- You can grow them year-round if you have a sunny window or a green house. Open the rooting container daily for a few minutes to prevent mold.
2- Anywhere from 7 days or later. Average for me is about 2 weeks.
3- Don't overwater! Let the weight of the damp soil mix be your guide. If you decide to grow it under a grow light, adjust it gradually to sunlight when the time comes. Good luck!

lay your cuttings on a layer of DAMP spaghum moss in a plastic shoebox.

Cover with layer of DAMP moss

Put the lid on the box

Place box in semi-dark corner of garage or un used room

leave it alone for 10 days

Tender white roots will form

carefully remove rooted cuttings

carefully place cuttings in red solo cup containing 50-50 mix of perlite and potting soil

spray moisten the soil

spray moisten inside of clear cup

place clear cup in red solo cup as a greenhouse

place cup in window with indirect sunlight

as long as moisture beads in clear cup water LIGHTLY 1-2 times per week

WHEN ROOTS ARE WELL ESTABLISHED UP POT TO 1 GAL POT

Thanks for the info! I am pleased to know that all hope is not lost. I will leave one of them as it is now, where it is now for awhile. Take one and move it to a sunny window. The third I will try that last method. Best of all worlds I guess! Hopefully I can get some success here, but if I DO unfortunately kill these cuttings, I still have the mother plant.
