I cut mine back and put into a sunny window. They are a tropical and don't go dormant. By spring it had lots of new growth and flowered again.No idea about cuttings. Gave mine away in the summer to some one who liked it more than I did.

I have one that was a present from my mother-in-law last spring. It's inside now, kind of forcibly cut back because it had wrapped itself around a trellis. So far it hasn't done anything, just sit there with a few leaves - but it's not receiving any direct sunlight yet. I'll have to get it into a window soon.
