Not wormy at that size is a major plus. Hopefully next year they offer the class again. And I expect all the Edmonton people to sign up so they don't cancel it again.LOL

Here are some Oyster Mushrooms picked in June on a dead tree,...first
time in my bush. I used to grow these on straw and sold to the local food store.

I read somewhere you can't grow mushrooms outside, you may get unexpected guests...

is that urban legend?

Could be, what guests are you thinking about...besides the worms LOL

Here is a giant puffball...also a first finder this big, I broke it up
into small bits for dehydrating in the sun. It's perfect condition this year with mushrooms. [lots of rain]

Never found a puffball that size, but we have eaten some of the little ones and they're good.

Are these good to eat. Have all kinds of them growing under my spruce trees. Worm free too!

They look similar to Shaggy Parasols, which are excellent, but don't go eating them just because of that!

shot and upside down looking at the gills...see link for idea shots, you can also cut in half. It still doesn't mean we can I.D. them 100%

Mushroom season again...

Here another good one I know of, Oyster mushroom but this time it's different in color, growing on a log on the ground.
This was the first time seeing this color, mostly I see the white/gray one's, ..posted above.

After planting allot of evergreens I get another good one coming up, called Lactarius deliciosus, known as the Saffron milk cap, or Red pine mushroom.

Well..with this wet weather lately you might want to look into these natural beauties! Just harvested and ate my first Parasol, [unknown to me] but ate it anyway lol.

Yes it was good, better then the red tops, [ Leccinum ] which I used to pick, not anymore.

Meadow Mushrooms are still my favored from what I can find around here.

I wish I knew more about mushrooms. I seem them all the time and I walk by because I just don't know. I don't think I would ever be comfortable unless I took a class that was hands on.

Yes..that's the best way to go which I did years ago but we didn't run into the Parasol.

Last week I found this puffball under my spruce tree, grown together weighing about one kg.

I love these in flavoring dishes, after drying you can crunch them up to whatever size needed.
