Just thought I'd share this with you all.

Last week I purchased some Crocus Corms. I want to try forcing crocus with a dish of water later this winter.

Normally I attempt to get my kids involved with indoor gardening. Well they managed to get the corms in the bag of vermiculite without making too much of a mess.

I tied the tops of the bags up and put them in the fridge. My oldest wanted to know what I was doing. I told him I was fooling the corms into thinking it was winter. Both boys thought this was quite amusing at first, but this obviously sparked a number of questions (this is why I like the indoor gardening, they don't always run off and play).

Anyways the next day my oldest son told my wife to close the fridge door or the corms might figure out they were being fooled. She told me he was quite adamant about it. She had to explain that the corms weren't smart enough to figure it out by opening the fridge door every now and then.
