I am not a good sourse for information on figs but I can tell you my past on rooting figs. I wait until spring as the tips start to swell and turn green, then I cut the limb about 18 inches long and a long tapered end and fill a 1 gal. pot with garden soil , stick ths fig in it and water it in. put it in a shady place and keep it just moist as it needs a fairly dry soil to root. I have rooted dozens this way, score a proud 100 per.

Hi Maureen I see you got my message. I have about 25 years growing figs in the ground and now want to try pots to see how they do down in my area. I will pick up 3 new trees later this weekfor my start. I am going to get a giant celest, a conadria and maybe a alma. These trees are in pots now and have fruit on them, so Im lookimg forward to trying them to see how I like growing them. DAN

Well Dan, you certainly have some experience with figs! I had no idea how delicious they are when they're fresh. I have to figure out which fig would be good in my zone 6A yard so I can leave it out all year.
