Variance in Figs
I took some cuttings from a large inground tree last year. The mother tree's figs resembled Celeste but were larger, about the size of a half dollar, and very sweet and tender. My cuttings have fruited this year and the ripe figs are about the size of a nickel and not very tender like the mother tree's figs. The figs are very tasty, but small. Are my figs different in size and tenderness because the cuttings are so young and not inground?
The mother tree bears figs twice a year and the figs are the same in all aspects both times. I am in Houston.
