Cucumbers are one of the easiest for me. Much easier than tomatoes. Maybe you should try a different variety? Last year I had mine in a container and just let them sprawl on the ground. Also what is wrong with the cucumbers? Do the bugs and disease get them or do they just not thrive?

cukes can be enraging... just when they start to bear heavily, the *(^&$%*^#%(*^&%#(*@& pickleworm cometh...

they can be done. they are grown commercially in central and south-central florida. i've had best luck with hybrids, in containers, up a trellis. cucino has always done the trick for me. poinsett 76 and tien chin long have grown well for others on this list. i'm growing all three this year.

the key is to get them bearing before the heavy weather hits... or the pickleworm.

Amberosses, they get about 6"high and then turn yellow and die.
Illmannered, they are general lee organic. I also have some early pride hybrid seeds I haven't planted yet. Is it to late to plant seeds for those?
Thanks for your help.

Sounds like they may be too wet. What mix/soil are you using?

It's too late now for Zone 10 to start from seed, probably too late even if you buy plants to set....

I've tried with no avail. I am attempting the pickling cuke in hopes being that they reach only 2" in length, that MAYBE I'll get somewhere. Goodluck!

Tom, thanks for the info. I planted them in the ground (square foot garden with a mix of compost & garden soil, it dries out fast), next time I will use containers and maybe then I will get somewhere.
