Found fig tree

I "found" an old fig tree growing at an abandoned historic home site that will be bulldozed for a subdivision. What would be the best way to propagate a piece of this tree this time of year? I took some cuttings for rooting but I'm not sure if I did it right. I took some of the newer wood with a bit of the old. Stripped off most of the leaves and any fruits. Then I dipped the end in rooting hormone and potted the cuttings up. They won't be bulldozing for a few weeks so I can go back to get more cuttings if I need to.

Also, is there a way to decipher what kind of fig this might be? I took pictures and saved some of the leaves. The "found" fig is not brown turkey or honey fig (I have these) though the fig looks very similar to a Celeste.

Many thanks in advance.
