Is your Stella healthy growing without very pronounced Fig Mosaic Virus?
Mine (healthy),makes excellent fruits in ground here in NJ.

Yes, my Stella is healthy with no evidence of FMV. The fruits on this Stella are very nice but not very sweet. I want to add a fig to my collection that has really sweet figgy flavor.

With most fruits too much water causes the less than ideal sweetness you are experiencing. Maybe you need to consider you cultural methods as well as variety to get really sweet fruit.

Does your Stella look like t5hat ,and is not good and sweet?
I would go to the end of the world to defend this cultivar,because I know how excellent it is.!

Thanks!! Yes that Stella looks almost exactly like my Stella. I am going to put her in the ground in 2012 spring. Currently Stella is in an 18/20 gallon container. I think the heavy rains and hurricane rains are the culprit -- now that I know excess water will dilute a fig fruits flavor.
