Will definitely not go/stay dormant! While it is OK to keep
new 1 yr. old figs 'going'( I am in favor of it),
and there is are questions if
fig dormancy is really needed, they do grow rather 'leggy'
inside. For dormant figs, stick to 20 - 40 *F winter
storage (maybe an unheated garage?).
Below 20*F they may die; above 40 *F, they will break
dormancy. Light is not a factor for 'breaking' dormancy,
but will be required once figs DO.

What I really meant is that I favor new 'tender' fig
rootings wintered is a warm GH or inside (next to a
well lighted) window.

OK to 'winter protect' dormant earlier 'somewhat' mature
new fig rootings; just keep in mind that 1-3 year old figs
may need some 'extra' protection form the cold winter temps.
