Which branches to prune?

My fig bush has been in the ground for about 3 years. This is the first year it produced figs on some of the branches. Is it too soon to prune branches? If not, which branches do I prune? The ones that didn't produce? I was given the bush so I don't know the kind of fig it is.

Lots of variables. Maybe include a picture and how you want it to grow(tree vs. bush) and someone can help you. My replies would be based off of reading up on this and not personal experience, my trees are all fairly young and in pots. I personally would wait until the tree goes dormant though.

Do the pruning (thinning),in Spring,and leave three to five trunks,then,not before Winter.

I prune my figs to trees not pushes I leave one to three trunks. I prune after the dormacy by removing all dead branches and the unwanted ones. Also I don't allow the trees to go over 8 feet so it will be easy to manage.
