I'm in the same boat and would like to here from some people with first hand knowledge.

I have had type 2 for over 25 years and I still eat figs
but having said that I don't want you to take my word
we are all different ask your physician.
my uncle in Greece was diagnosed with type 2 last year and his doctor told him no more than 3 figs a year.
ask your doctor and besides everything in moderation
by the way if you live close by I can come over and help you eat the figs lol

I found this carb counter on line. I eat low carb/sugar now. By this chart i should be able to have 1 fig once in a while. 4 carbs = 1 tsp of sugar.

the important thing is not to stress over the diabetes
when I first found out about it I freaked but just keep an eye on what you eat ,exercise and just enjoy life
try not to stress over things because it raises your sugar
and besides is there anything in life worth stressing over
just think about things calmly and solve the problem
easier said than done I know
but as time goes on you will get it under control and everything falls in place and you will be enjoying more figs

As a physician who treats lots of diabetics, I would suggest the best thing is to count your calories or exchanges, depending on your diet program, and use the figs as a fruit in the diet. Moderation of course. You can always test your sugar before and an hr or so after eating one to see the effect. I have not looked at figs as a separate item in a diabetic diet, but they should be usable as a complex carbohydrate like other fruits. If you are overweight, you should exercise, diet, lose weight, and then the figs will not be an issue.

Figs are a fruit. Just a fruit. Look at their glycemic index and eat them in moderation.

Same with dates, raisins, and other dried fruits - they are more candy than fruit.
