I can't see your pictures but look at the blurb below. I got it off of a list of plant diseases that I have saved to my computer. It is put out by the university of Kentucky.

From what you have stated it sounds much like crown rot fungus. I'm sorry but there is no cure and you should treat the soil too.

Water-mold root, stem, and crown rot (fungus)

Symptoms: Roots or lower stems and crown decay.
Tops wilt, yellow, or die back. May occur on seedlings or
in the bed.

Control: Improve planting site drainage. Remove and
destroy infected plants. Begin seedlings using sterilized soil and clean equipment. Soil drenches containing ethazole,fosetyl-Al, metalaxyl, propamocarb, or ethazole + thiophanatemethyl will prevent infections. Read the label for lists of specific plants allowed for each fungicide.

Thank you so much for that info. The symptoms fit and I was taken aback how damp the soil was when I got back, so it seems to be a correct diagnosis. : ( Since writing that post a couple of months ago it's definitely in an even sorrier state. I thought it was pot-bound (hoped?)and one entire trunk (there's only two) appears dead, with the second trunk following the pattern of the now dead one. Leaves go yellow, wilt, one by one until there are no leaves left. Then eventually the entire stem seems to be woody and straw like. No salvaging it, it seems. If you're right, bye bye dracaena, it was fun while it lasted. . .
