Indian rubber plant

Can anyone tell me if I can prune this thing? It has about five or six main branches, one of which is now about four feet long and shows no signs of slowing, it's practically bending over to the floor. Will I plant damage the plant if I cut about 18" off that branch? Thanks.

Yes you can prune it, happens in nature all the time. But you may get a lot of sap coming out of the cut end.I think if you have a cup of cold water and dunk the cut end in the water as soon as you cut it, it may congeal the sap.Also how about planting the bit you cut off and seeing if it'll root?
