Coleus plant question

I have a coleus that I have always grown in the house, I put it out in my flowerbed this summer and it is growing some string-like things all over it. I have never seen one do this does anyone know what is it or why it is doing this?

You don't have by chance a Tovara (which does have multi-colored foliage that might lead you to think it a coleus) instead of a coleus do you? When tovara starts to bloom the thin stem could sort of be said to look like a string coming out. Otherwise, I have no idea. Sharon
