Congratulations!

Way to go, Deb. I remember how excited I was to have our first salad from our hoop house too. It's also fun and a little wicked to go to the grocery in late February and early March when produce looks so sad yet expensive to know what beautiful greens you have waiting at home. I just started seeds for several kinds of lettuce, kale and bunching onions last week.

Keep up the good work.

Debbb, are you raising anything in your unheated greenhouse now? We will be constructing a lean-to gh attached to a shed and I was not going to heat it. I want to grow salad greens too and I was wondering how your's might be doing.

07 updte--first salad.

First salad this year was Jan.21! Yeah! I simply planted in Sept, watered about once every two weeks! We've had many days of freezing weather and it doesn't seem to phase them. They seem to start to grow again not when it's getting warmer, but when the light increases--about Feb. 1.

how do you do that? I didn't know you could grow vegetables in the snow... please give me some more information on this!
