This happened to me last spring with some plants I had started indoors. I direct seeded some additional plants (different variety) but gave the frost-bitten plants some first aid. I use liquid fish emulsion or fish fertilizer diluted per the bottle's instructions whenever I transplant and whenever a plant looks like its ailing.

Did you find the frostbitten zuchinni didn't produce as well come summer?

The problem with things you "hear" is that they are so often wrong. Try both - replacing some and keeping others, and keep track of what really happens versus what you "heard".

The better-established root system of the frostbitten plants might make up for the loss of a couple of leaves.

My frost-bitten plants produced well despite being almost dead after getting hit by frost. I provided first-aid more to see what would happen. They weren't quite as vigorous as the newly seeded plants but they were also a different variety.

Well, I came home to find them looking even worse, and with some back-ups still in the cold frame, I went ahead and pulled them out. When I did, I discovered they were dry. It's possible they dried to death and it wasn't frost after all. I'd had them in peat pots which I suspect simply wicked all the moisture out. I'm usually pretty smart when it comes to watering. This was my first time planting in peat pots. Not very happy with those, I have to add.

I do appreciate the advice and suggestions. Lazygardens, I think you're right about what you "hear". I've just got to stop trying to get it all perfect and right the first time and remind myself that gardening is a process where we experiment and learn.
