I plant my corn in 10 foot long rows at least 3 rows wide for pollination. I plant in 20 inch rows and plant so that it is not ready all at the same time. I use differnt varieties with differing maturity days. Nothing like from plant to table corn john

Actually for gardens the advice is to plant in a block, as you are thinking of doing. It concentrates the pollen in a smaller area and is more likely to distribute it to all the plants. Go ahead and plant in the 10x10 area. Have you read about planting corn the square-foot way? If your soil is VERY good, you can plant 4 seeds to a foot. I tend to plant 2 to a foot, and then leave a bit of a row every 3 feet to access the plants. So in your space you would have 3 wide beds divided by 2 narrow paths.

I would say the same as catherine nm try sq foot I also felt 4 per foot was ambitious in normal soil so I have done 3 with the intention of thinning to 2 per sq foot, it seems that pollination is the key to corn, I hope I get some I have never eaten corn as good as I have had since I moved to the US and I am buying it so it is a little old!, and it even better fresh, please. please work corn!
oh and I intend to to plant runner beans up the corn to replace the nitrogen in the soil, I'm not sure if I will add the 3rd sister as I think the spacing will make this impossible! comments please, also my thinning's are all cast into the cold compost heap....I am hope they may take? who knows but its fun finding out

I agree with Catherine. Corn should be planted in blocks for best pollination. I plant seed about every foot in rows about 18" apart. I plant twice, two weeks apart so it doesn't all come at once. I'm definitely a corn snob. I don't eat it unless I can pick it, shuck it, and put it immediately into a steamer pot. Corn Heaven.
