Cantaloups LOVE heat! As do pumpkins & other squashes, corn, beans, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants. Some, like tomatoes, won't flower or something when it's over 100F, but will grow well in heat.

Its not that hot in TN, but my least watered and best right now vegetable is Thorogreen Lima Beans. Theyre not bearing yet, but I started them late. I have hope for them!

Southern peas!

Okra, eggplants and southern peas bear when nothing else will. I have also had good luck with soybeans and Summer Dance cucumbers, a heat-tolerant variety, on a trellis. Needs water. We grew lots of melons this year, too. I covered the tomatoes with white cloth to provide some shade, and they're still bearing (from fruits which set during cool June weather). We had 22 days above 100 and 12 or 13 above 105 in July. Spider mites and whiteflies, plus aphids, thrips and squash bugs are starting to take their toll.

Lima beans grow much better in heat than regular beans, but will not set pods until the weather cools off in fall. I started mine in July this year. My favorite is Fordhook 242.

Okra is another heat lover I didn't see mentioned.

I am always trying out new tomatoes and this year the big standout is SIBERIAN heirloom,57 days,medium size, 5 oz. i was shocked to see this varity setting fruit in 100 deg weather, texas. nice looking and old fashion flavor.
