Your first frost should be somewhere between Oct. 20 and 28. So you are too late for outdoor unprotected crops this year. You might get a crop of fast growing spinach from a cold frame though. Hard to say, but I would personally take a shot. Whats to lose except a few seeds?

I live at the ohio michigan border so I have pretty much the same amount of sun as you. I plant radishes, for this year and garlic, spinach, and other cold hardy plants for next spring. I planted spinach at the end of october last year and protected it with a cold frame and had spinach in march of this year, what a treat. I'm going to plant some carrots, beets and spring onions this fall for the spring harvest. I really enjoy my early spring and fall crops more than the summer, remember it's not how warm it is but how many hours of daylight you get. Small plants seem to winter over better than more mature ones, likely less moisture and thinner stems.
