Fuschia Cuttings Need Light?

I am wondering if fuschia cuttings need to be put under growing lights to root, or if a sunny windowsill will do the trick? I know that they are shade happy plants, but do they need the extra light to start rooting? When they have finally rooted, are they good to be potted up into their final pot? Or should I do it in stages?

I know it's too early to be worrying about this in my area, but I want to train one into a Standard (?) this year. This is the first year I have attempted to overwinter them and so far so good!

Your windowsill will be fine. You should pot up in stages. Start with a 2-4 inch pot and every 4-5 weeks they should be potted into the next size up. When you constantly repot them it stimulates their growth resulting in a healthy happy plant.If you are starting a standard DO NOT pinch out the top. Pinch out any side shoots (but not the leaves) until it reaches the desired height. When that is achieved then you start pinching the tips to make it bushy. Fuchsias bloom on new growth. Everywhere you pinch you will get 2 new shoots resulting in twice the amount of flowers. Don't forget to fertilize every week at 1/4 strength!!! Enjoy the hummingbirds!
