Heh heh heh. I suppose "huge" is relative to variety. I used to have a Fuchsia 7 feet high and maybe 9 wide.

This is probably the deciding issue. Your Fuchsia is probably at risk from senescence (plant old age). Their wood is not long-lived. You might want to consider rooting some cuttings as insurance.

Otherwise, just trim off dead twigs, spent blossoms, and whatever you deem expendable for shaping. Most Fuchsias are vigorous and forgiving of pruning. Usually it looks best to remove an entire twig or branch, instead of leaving a cut end. Because your climate is subtropical, time of year is not critical. In my part of the world, I would prune in the spring to remove winterkill.

I have 3 starter plugs to put out next Spring can you tell me if I cut this down at the end of the season or do I leave it till the following Spring and trim it.
