Please tell me about 'Buxtons' variety'

I bought a "Buxtons variety" after I had read Graham Stuart Thomas' description of it. He mentioned that it was Spode blue, and a "Pearl beyond price". The photo's of it that I've seen were true blue.

I bought a "Buxtons variety" and am dismayed by the color of the blooms which are reddish-blue, not at all like the photos.

Does anyone know where I could buy a "Buxtons variety" that is Spode blue and not red-blue?

Sorry, haven't seen this message before beacuse you have misplaced it under Gallery and not the usual forum.

The name 'Buxtons' Variety' means it's a seedling, a plant from seeds, from the plant 'Buxtons' Blue'. You actually have to pick the best blue-seedlings to call it 'Buxtons'Variety'. If its not blue you should a) not keep it, or b) not call it by this name.
But I keep mine either way because I like it :)

It varies from seedling to seedling, and hot weather makes it more pinkish. Here is one I made some years ago.

If you want to be sure to have a true blue cranesbill you should {{gwi:820979}} instead. It is steril (no seeds whatsoever!) so it flowers the whole summer.
