Assume you're talking about Sagina subulata the flowering plant and not the red algae Chondrus crispus??
. Have never grown the latter but have been unable to get subulata through summer. Does fantastic during winter though have much better luck with Salaginella particularly the tropical types . No flowers but comes in red ,yellow, several shades of green and my fav the irridescent blue . These are often called moss also but are actually between moss and ferns
Have never been able to get true mosses to grow well well but love them lol gary

I also live in Tampa and have tried to grow Irish moss many times and as soon as the weather gets hot, it dies. I see you have plenty of shade, so it might do better. Just keep the area moist. If it does not work out, dwarf mondo grass has been suggested to me and I will try it next on my path.

Just a word about dwarf mondo grass, it some times reverts to the full size mondo. I've had it happen to me several times. :o)
