I planted one in the woodland area near the pond and it is huge. I must trim it waaaay back each year.That being said I have some bare areas around my fence that I am filling in with shell ginger and hope I get the same results.I think it would bust outta any pot you place it in.

I've got one in the ground in a spot that gets an hour or two of morning sun and then shade for the rest of the day. It gets once per week irrigation. It has grown nice, thick and lush, but not out of control. It's about 5' tall.

I wouldn't really call it a hedge plant because the stalks tend to lean out away from the rhizome. While the area where the stalks come out of the ground is only about a foot or two in diameter, the stalks lean out and cover and area about 8' in diameter.
