Adding colour to grey colour scheme

I love grey. My couches are grey and my walls are grey. I know i need to add some colour to the room, and i want to do it by adding some accessories, throws, pillows and obviously some art above the couch. Just wanted some ideas on schemes that will go good with grey. Originally i was thinking yellow, but i'm kind of over it now. I want to add more than one colour and i was thinking turquoise and orange. Good idea? Bad idea? Any other ideas you have? Thanks guys!

p.s. ignore the hideous coffee table...i have an awesome barnboard and metal custom square table being made as we speak!

I love grey too. Instead of yellow, perhaps you could try gold and shades of gold and cream. Also I would add a splash of a metallic red in a throw pillow or in a painting. I would probably stay away from turquoise as it is not a contrast - also you probably want reflective colors rather than ones that absorb light. Hope this helps.

Youv'e got a nice soothing look going, but you could use some contrast. I like the blues, greens and hints of orange in this room. Also suggest a nice bright piece of art over the sofa.

All shades shades of purple, from plum to lavender, look beautiful with grey. You can incorporate blues too. From the look of your pictures turquoise and orange seems a bit to trendy for your home.

A dash of chartreuse and a little gold will keep it warm and lively.

I'm afraid grey is getting tiresome and may soon be over as a decor darling, so enjoy it in its full glory while it is still "hot" and don't worry about adding other color. How about light, medium and dark gray with a touch of black? Go for it - the McGonigal Signature Home only has bits of purple and white but still looks great in mostly grey, grey and more grey!

I think you should find your art work or photography for the wall prior to deciding on the color to add other accessories. That way, you can have a piece of art that you love and pull colors from it to accessorize with. It will be more difficult finding wall art after you choose your accessories. I would choose something bright rather than some of those matching dull pieces you sometimes see at Bed Bath and Beyond etc. Try looking on Etsy.com they have a lot of artisans and shops.

Teal looks great with gray. Black and white photos framed in white frames could be stunning.

HI --- The up and coming color now is soft mint . Not the 80's mint but softer, also looks great conbined with a soft lavender. Grey will always be a good color because it goes with everything .

I would say yellow. For the main paint color do a very light gray and add yellow lines, horizontal lines would be nice

I see a big bare wall crying for a large piece of art. Find one that you love and coordinate with the colors in the artwork. Since your room is grey you have many color options.

room might be getting too matchy matchy, how about some metals, emerald blues or greens and a tray for tv remote. Natural looking art to balance the stone fireplace.

Go look at art: paintings, prints, photo art, original art. Pick one large one for over the sofa (large, not huge). It would be nice if there is some gray in it, but it isn't required. Once you have the first piece, you can select a few smaller pictures in a similar style or similar theme or in similar colors to use in other spots. Select one color from the first piece to use in accessories...a side chair, a vase, a soft throw, an edge detail on curtains or drapes, a couple of pillows. Don't overdo the pillows..two or three may suffice.
