I grew my plant outside for about two years. I never repotted it from its tiny 2" round pot and it survived our dry rainless summers with just my irratic watering. It even flowered but stayed very small. Late this fall I took pitty on it, repotted it to a cute low round glazed pot and put it under lights. It really does well as a light garden plant. Now, it is about four times as big, though much less symetrical than yours. Actually your plant looks pretty darn good. As it gets larger the symetry will improve. I guess the leaves form in a spiral about the stem so that there is never an orderly end. All one can do is take off the odd ball older leaves that take away from the plant.

But, put them down. These leaves usually put up plants. I have the similar species that still only has a string of letters and numbers for a name. It was under a baggie and the leaves were all stretched and very small and immature. I took off all the odd leaves and ended up with about forty, planted together in a single 3" square pot. That was in early Jan. and already I have a few plantlets coming up. Fingers and toes crossed, these will make it to the convention plant sale as nice 2" pot plants. I find the pets are very tolerant of drying out when outdoors, as well as high humnidity under domes, or regular room conditions under lights or on window sills. But, I think they flower best when exposed to our California outdoor summer conditions with cooler nights and natural light. Though I am now fairly certain that they make their best foliage under lights.

Thanks all. I got this from an auction on Ebay. I'm very pleased with its growth. I've just repotted it since I'm going to take it to show the end of next week, even if it is small. Anyway, we were all encouraged to make this a big show, so bring all that we can.

So Jon, you'll be selling GKwhateveritis at convention? I registered early and get to go in to early sales. As a matter of fact, I am actually in the first group of 25 to go in, since I was number 16. I'm fast on the draw. So hopefully I can get one of these at convention.

When my P. minor grows up, I'll be able to compare how they look. But I think I like the bumpy foliage of this one better.

hI, i WILL AGREE WITH THE OTHERS, DOES IT BLOOM?

It has white flowers with a yellow throat. Petrocosmeas all flower though they may not flower for all people in all conditions. They seem to grow very well in houseplant conditions but I think they need a cool period to flower well. My begoniifolia plants were outside until late fall when I decided to move them inside. Now they are under lights. When taking leaves off last week I found some peduncles coming out from the base of leaves. I don't know what triggered them to flower--perhaps the cool period when they were outside followed by several months under lights.
