Hi, I am new here and new to hardy geraniums, and I live in 7a in virginia.

My new biokova started to collapse - outer, older leaves only. The leaf stems become black where they meet the rhizome and eventually fall off. The centers look healthy, but the 1 gallon plant has only been in the ground a couple of months, so I am worried. Any thoughts? Fungus, virus, temporary reaction to humidity (though it has been a very comfy august here for once!). Should I pot it up again?

Rozanne, planted at the same time, is healthy but exceedingly leggy. I've cut it back, but was wondering if it might become better behaved next year once it is more established. I know it us rangy by nature, but this us ridiculous. Had to fashion a wire collar to get it if the ground! Maybe too much shade. It only gets about 3 hours if direct sun. Otherwise bright shade.

Macrorhizum just went in under a crepe myrtle and looks happy. Hopefully it will do battle and survive the dry shade. Please... One out of three!

Phaeum is next. Can you even grow these things in Richmond???
