Thanks for posting. I see you made out really well in the plant sale. If I had been there I would have been fighting with you over some of them ;). I see the strong influence of JonnieB, both in the show and in the sale--lots of chiritas and kohlerias, including his hybrids. I see you got a little K. amabilis--that is a special species, which I have trouble with, though I am doing better. It grew best for me when I didn't know anything about how to grow it. That Gloxinia sarmentiana is something I will have to get one of these days. It has those weird tuber/rhizome things that confound the taxonomists. I am really curious to see how it grows. And, that Chirita sclerifolia. Sigh, I have killed two of them due to my lack of care. It needs more attention than others and that specimen is spectacular. Another really great one is the specimen of Columnea minor (not minus), which I still call Trichantha minor. I see the judges only gave it 82 points. While I can't see the actual plant I think it deserves more credit for being a very good specimen of a hard to grow and naturally very rangy species. Thanks for posting, now I am looking forward to John's pictures, hopefully he will have had time to take some. I know how busy those show weekends can be. Again, you did really well in the salesroom, congratulations! Hopefully we will see some of your plants come back and be in the show next year???

Hi Jon. Any tips on the amabilis? Actually, these are my first Kohlerias (some might be going to a friend anyway, though I am keeping an amabilis for sure). I've also had trouble with Chiritas in the past, so that's another challenge.

Unfortunately I had nothing show-worthy this year. I ran out of space in the fall and reduced everything to cutting size....

Wow, neat flowers on Trichantha minor. I guess they grow best as a hanging plant. Groth similar to Columnia? Chrita Sclerifolia looks great.
