What kind of geranium is this?

18 years ago

We just bought our house 6 months ago and I am still learning the names of everything in the garden. Does anyone know what kind of flower this is? I think it's a geranium, but I can't find anything that looks like it. They didn't bloom until July and grew up tp 24 inches tall on thick sticks.
