Tomato Roots

So half the tomatoes I have in my 5 gallon buckets have roots growing out of the drain holes. The buckets are sitting up off the ground on some planks as you can see in this photo below. The picture is old, there are 6 more buckets and all the plants are 2-5 feet tall. I have holes drilled in the wood planks to let any water that comes out of the buckets just go to the ground, so I don't think is it collecting under them. Is this good, bad or doesn't matter?

Thanks

Wes
