second - shake your pot out, collect your rhizomes.Put your rhizomes in a ziplock freezer baggie with a pinch of barely moist vermiculite or sphagnum moss. Zip the thing and clip it to your light stand. The light wakes them up faster. In 3-5 weeks your rhizomes will start growing and you plant them again in a fresh soil just under the surface, 3-5 rhizomes per pot. In a a month or 2 they will be blooming.

Thanks Irina. Is there something I should know in the future about when / if the plant is supposed to die down and when / if I'm supposed to dig up rhizomes? It never died down, just hasn't grown any. So as usual I'm experimenting with lighting too.

Usually Kohlerias do not have a rest period, they just start looking ratty with time. But I think at least once a year you need to repot and restart them - from rhizomes or tip cuttings - soil gets tired and the stems too long.

"Red Ryder" is just a bit higher on its light requirements than the AV. Put it directly under the tubes or on the good window.
