I think that the one on the right is a Columnea, but the other 2 look to me like Aeschynanthus, Jon?

yes, i know that, but which particular ones? which hybrids?

I'm afraid that my ability to name hybrids in these two instances is limited because there are just so many of them and colors often don't tell the ID. The aeschynanthus is a type we call "Lipstick Plant" because it has the tubular calxy, which looks like a tube of lipstick, with the corolla emerging like lipstick from a tube. But, I am in a quandary as to the specific name for this one. A. lobbianus is the most common lipstick. I don't have one now, but it has slightly do wny leaves that have a purple tinge. In good light they can be quite dark. It has a maroon calyx like yours. Then there is pulcher with a green calyx, the hybrid 'Pullobia', which I haven't seen in years, radicans and parvifolia. Looking in the old picture book, Exotica, I see the name javancus, which I either forgot about or didn't know(maybe a syn. for radicans??). It may be the one. It also have the dark calyx. So, as to what you have--well it could be one of these or a modern hybrid that has made it to the trade but not named and described in gesneriad literature. There are many other aeschynanthus without the lipstick like calyx.

There are quite a few orange flowered columneas, so here again I draw a blank. I know of 'Orange Sherbert', 'Orange Tanager', but there must be a dozen others too. In Europe there could be entirely different cultivars too.

By the way, here in California I recently bought a lipstick that looks just like yours. It was beautifully grown and fully budded in a six inch pot for $8. I wondered how it could have gone through a wholesale greenhouse and into a nursery for such a low retail price? Maybe it is coming from europe (Holland??), mass produced and shipped around the world in bud?
