Is my streptocarpus pod ripe?

I have a Streptocarpus with lots of long pods. (the one I have in the Gallery)

One is beginning to go brown, and today when I looked at it with a magnifying glass I could see gaps beginning in the spiral.

Is it ready to cut off, or do I need to leave it until the gaps are bigger?

When I have the seeds, can I sow them straight away?
