I would suggest you join the Toronto Gesneriad Society. It is one of the largest chapters in AGGS, if not the biggest; and you cannot find a nicer bunch of people. The members are a very diverse group--all ages, all kinds of backgrounds, and all really happy to share their knowledge and plants. I believe you can find a link to the chapter and their web site from the AGGS web site at www.aggs.org .
Like Jon says, check out the Toronto Gesneriad Society. They have a show in the spring with a plant sale. People come from all over for it and I've arranged trades at the show.
