Gingers can take quite a while to bloom. When mine were planted in shade they bloomed in Sept. and started to lay over before they bloomed. This year I planted them in full sun and they are looking a little better. Although since those pictures were taken the ones that are blooming are begining to lay over. I have seen pictures of gingers held up with bamboo stakes. The blooms on these gingers smell fantastic. You smell them from 20 feet away. It would be worth your while to move them outside in full sun as soon as the weather warms up, then move them inside when it start to get cold or when they start to bloom. Other than that good soil, adequate water, and occasional fertilizer should do the trick. I'm trying to remember, I think I transplanted my ginger back in early April. And I think they started coming up in mid March. So that's about 5 1/2 months of warm weather and full sun to bloom. Hope that helps.

I would leave them in the pot and place them near a sunny window. With your heater running in winter the air in your house will be very dry. You could compensate for this by misting the plant every now and then.
