People who make wine or beer might want to use them for siphoning - if it's possible to sanitize them appropriately.

Maybe you could offer them on freecycle.org. You never know what others could use them for.

I use oxygen too, but only at night. Still, I have a bag full of those 1/4" hoses, some still in their original package. I don't have a rain barrel yet, but have thought there must be some way I can water all the plants on my lanai at one time. One of the first items needed to build this system would be one or more reducers (plastic or nylon)to connect the 1/4" hose to my regular lawn hose. Anyone have any ideas? cora

I've seen watering systems at nurseries, where they have a little tube going into each of a large number of pots. YOu might want to research those systems to see what other parts yo might need. I believe there is a spike at the end of each tube to go into the plant pots, and connectors at certain intervals, plus whatever moves the water along. Might be a wicking system, or might be a pump of some sort.

Most drip irrigation systems use 1/4" hose, so it should work. Go to Lowes, or similar store...they have all sorts of fittings, reducers, filters, pressure regulators, drip emitters, etc. for a 1/4" system.
