In the rest of my garden, all my beds are 4 feet wide. I will be adding pumpkins/squash this year, and believe I should make those beds wider. Do you recommend 5 feet wide or 6 feet.

Also, regarding irrigation, in my other beds, I have rows of drip works irrigation hose. It seems to me that watering the entire length of a pumpkin bed would be wasteful. Could I not just have rings of drip hose connected by lengths of solid hose, with the rings placed on the center of the "hills"? (I don't really use hills. I have very sandy well drained soil and when I call it a hill, I really just mean a 5'by5' area.) How far will the reach of the pumpkin roots be so I can figure out the size of the drip rings? Maybe I need two concentric rings per hill.
