The trees they cut to make paper products were planted for that purpose, then replanted. I think it's a better system than plastic personally.

I would also go with paper as it is easy to recycle, and it won't fill up our landfills. Other advantage of paper over plastic is that it is biodegradable which is really good for our environment and is made from reusable resource trees.

Paper is better. You see plastic bags wrapped up in trees....they will stay there. Paper bags along the road will decompose.

This is probably a good place for me to ask about possible toxicity from paper products. I don't normally add paper to my gardens, except for the ashes from our firepit for which I use paper as a starter.

However I plan on getting a pet hamster as a pet and using its soiled bedding as mulch/fertilizer. For bedding I plan to use a mix of organic alfalfa pellets and a commercial bedding material made from shredded paper in the cage. Do I need to be concerned about chemicals in the shredded paper do you think?

another question is do you need to be concerned about the hamster dung carrying disease? Especially on leafy greens?
