Not a pumpkin expert but I have had numerous conversations with people on this site so i am going to share what i was told. i would leave it where it is to start. You want pumpkins to be wet but not soaking wet so use best judgement on that. Cover any vine that is exposed to promote rerooting at leaf sections. Do not cover the leaves however as they need the sun. If you want a larger pumpkin, place a "tent" over the pumpkin itself. The pumpkin doesnt need sun at this point and the sun will cause the skin to harden faster and inhibit growth. i would also recommend that you dont allow any other fruit to grow on the vine. Pinch off any other flowers or fruit so all the nutrients go to that one pumpkin. Hope that helps some.

Thank you. It's already had several blooms. I don't think this is a vining type of pumpkin but a bush variety. At least I think so because it isn't vining out and there is several fruit coming in that are growing very close to middle of the plant. One fruit that got pollinated is already a bit bigger than a golf ball. What I'm worried about now is the heat. It's been kind of mild the past few days but today it's jumping up in to 110.

I think the heat wont kill the established fruit, it will just prevent new ones from forming. I would definitely water it well, especially if its going to get that hot.

Are you sure this is a pumpkin? I have never heard of a bush pumpkin. How could a bush support the weight of a pumpkin?

The exact same way that a vine supports it!

Pumpkins growing on vines are supported by the ground. I did not know there was such a thing as a bush pumpkin.

There are a few varieties of bush pumpkin. Not many tho. Cheyenne Bush, Dynasty, Spirit are examples.
